Segway Riders Club donates Segway to mobility-challenged Navy veteran

The Segway Riders Club on Wednesday presented a Segway to U.S. Navy veteran Linda Strong, who is mobility challenged.

The presentation was at SeaBreeze Recreation Center. This is the second Segway presented to a Villages veteran this year. You can read about the previous Segway donation HERE

Funds to purchase this Segway were raised by club members at their spring Segway Experience and were supplemented with a donation from Disabled American Veterans Orange Blossom Gardens Chapter #150.

The Segway Experience is an opportunity for Village area residents to experience the thrill of riding a Segway.  The next experience is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7 at SeaBreeze Recreation Center parking lot. The Segway Experience will offer 30-minute and 10-minute Segway rides. Each ride is preceded by a safety training session. Tickets for the 30-minute rides ($30) are available at The Villages Box Office and the 10-minute rides ($10) are available on a first-come, first-served walk-up basis at the event. One hundred percent of the proceeds are dedicated to the purchase of a new Segway for a local mobility-challenged veteran. The rain date is Nov. 21.
