Shots fired at home in Summerfield

Shots were fired Wednesday in the 3400 Block of 138th Place in Summerfield, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

A homeowner went outside to investigate a vehicle with a horn honking in front of his home.

A shot was fired from the passenger window of the vehicle. As the vehicle was fleeing, the homeowner fired back at the car, according to a report from the sheriff’s office. It is unknown if the fleeing vehicle was hit. A round fired from that vehicle went through a bedroom wall and lodged in a closet in the home.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
