Dean Mongerio has spent the past few years in England but he will perform Thursday at noon in the Savannah Center.
Mongerio — a saxophonist who had an international hit on the Smooth Jazz charts with “In the Bag” – will perform as guest artist with the group Orion.
The performance is part of the popular Lunchtime Concert Series at Savannah, with cabaret-style seating at round tables. Audience members are encouraged to bring their own lunches and enjoy the show. Coffee and tea is provided and the cost is $5 per person.
Orion features Thomas Pizzi on keyboards; Jerry Bruno on drums with Davis Collister on bass.
Mongerio feels right at home in The Villages. He is the son of Kathy and Tony Mongerio, better known here as The Sounds of Time duo.
“We’re just happy to have Dean home,” Kathy Mongerio said. Also, Tony Mongerio plays bass in the local band, The Rockin’ Relics.
