South Carolina man jailed on charges of having sex with 15-year-old in Marion County

A South Carolina man has been arrested for having sex with a 15-year-old in Marion County.

John David Madura

Detectives with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office arrested 38-year-old John David Madura after he had sexual intercourse on multiple occasions with the 15-year-old female.

Madura was arrested in Minneapolis, Minn. for possession of child pornography and during that investigation, Minneapolis detectives discovered videos on Madura’s phone of him having sex with the teenager and of her posed in lewd positions. An analysis of the videos revealed that they were taken at a residence in Marion County, initiating MCSO’s investigation.

At the time of Madura’s Minneapolis arrest in June, the juvenile victim was located with Madura and told law enforcement that she was his employee. The pornographic videos produced in Marion County were located as a result of a search warrant conducted on Madura’s phone by Minneapolis police. MCSO detectives produced a warrant for Madura’s arrest and featured him on Sheriff Billy Woods’ Facebook video segment, “Wanted by Woods Wednesday” on Sept. 20. Detectives then received a tip that Madura was in Pennsylvania and on Sept. 29, Madura was located and apprehended. Madura waived extradition and was booked Monday at the Marion County Jail.

He is currently being held on $95,000 bond.
