Speeding habitual offender arrested after caught back behind the wheel

A 47-year-old man who has been classified as a habitual offender was arrested when he was caught behind the wheel of a van.

Rudolph Aaron Cauthen had been driving at 81 miles per hour at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday on East State Road 44 when he was pulled over by a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy. Cauthen presented the deputy with a New Jersey ID card during the traffic stop.

The deputy determined Cauthen had multiple suspensions and revocations of his Florida driver’s license, including a June 16, 2015 conviction in Marion County for driving while license suspended.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $2,000 bond.
