Spruce Creek couple seriously injured in crash that claims life of Tennessee man

A Del Webb Spruce Creek couple was seriously injured Sunday night in a crash that claimed the life of a Tennessee man.

Daniel Grosner, 78, had been at the wheel of a 2008 Honda van at 8:30 p.m. on the Florida Turnpike at Mile Marker 287 in Lake County when it struck a 2017 Nissan Sentra which was stopped on the right paved shoulder of the northbound lanes of the Turnpike, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. After the collision, the Nissan Sentra turned over onto its right side.

The driver of the Sentra, 46-year-old Dena Thompson of Maryville, Tenn. suffered serious injuries and was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center. A passenger, 29-year-old Jonathan Clark, also of Maryville, Tenn. was transported to Leesburg Regional Medical Center where he later died of injuries suffered in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
