An On Star system led law enforcement to a stolen 2017 Cadillac on Sunday on Interstate 75 in Sumter County.

The Florida Highway Patrol was joined in the pursuit of the vehicle by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle, which had been reported stolen out of Gulfport, was bearing a North Carolina license plate which was assigned to a 2009 Nissan, according to an arrest report from FHP.

The vehicle was reported stolen through On Star and the On Star system flashed the lights, confirming to law enforcement it was the stolen vehicle.

The driver, 66-year-old David Thomas Creighton of Murphy, N.C., was found to be wanted on a Pinellas County warrant charging him with failure to pay child support. He was also arrested on charges of driving while license suspended and grand theft auto.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center.
