A student reportedly struck a teacher in an outburst during a math test on Tuesday at Emerald Shores Elementary in Ocala.
A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to the elementary school located at 404 Emerald Road in reference to a simple battery. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the dean of the students who advised he received a distress call over the two-way radio from the victim, the report stated. The victim, a teacher at the school, told the dean that a juvenile suspect had been cussing at her and hit her.
The deputy spoke with the teacher who gave an account of what had happened. During a math test, the juvenile did not like his seat so the teacher allowed him to move. She stated the juvenile then threw a pencil at another student, and she chased the students around until the student hid behind the teacher. The juvenile ran past the teacher, slapping her in the arm and threatening to punch her in the face. The dean then came to the classroom and was able to control the juvenile, the report stated.
