Summerfield Convenience Store on U.S. 301 forced to close after woman runs into it with car

A woman was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center after running her vehicle into the Summerfield Convenience Store on U.S. 301 early Saturday morning.

Erica Jean Shaw, 24, of Belleview, was at the wheel of a 1998 Mercury at 2:10 a.m. when she ran a stop sign at County Road 475A and U.S. 301 and ran into the convenience store, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The store was forced to close due to extensive damage, the report indicated.

Alcohol use is suspected and the investigation is ongoing.
