A 40-year-old Summerfield man was arrested Wednesday by a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy after he was pulled over and presented a Mexican passport rather than a driver’s license to the arresting deputy.

Eugenio Rey Hernandez-Perez was speeding when he was pulled over on U.S. Hwy. 301 in Bushnell, according to the arrest report.

Hernandez-Perez told the deputy he did not have a driver’s license and instead offered the deputy a Mexican passport.

Hernandez-Perez was ticketed on a charge of operating a motor vehicle license. He was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center where bond was set at $500.
