A 19-year-old Summerfield man was arrested Thursday after an attack on his girlfriend sent her to Ocala Regional Medical Center.
Thomas James Jewell is facing a charge of battery and was being held without bond at the Marion County Jail.
He had been arguing with his girlfriend when Jewell lunged at her and used his elbow to repeatedly strike her in the face and in the rib area, according to the arrest report. When she tried to get up, he slammed her back to the floor.
She eventually escaped and sought refuge at a neighbor’s home. She was transported from the scene by ambulance.
Deputies located Jewell on Sunset Harbor Road and placed him under arrest.
