A Summerfield woman has pleaded guilty in the theft of items from Beall’s where she was employed.

Jaime Marie Scheck, 39, entered the guilty plea on Thursday in Sumter County Court. She has been placed on 12 months probation.

Scheck had been arrested Sept. 28 on a charge of petit theft after she allegedly stole cash and merchandise from Beall’s Outlet at Southern Trace Plaza in The Villages. She was captured on video surveillance taking a small amount of cash on each cash drop to the store’s office safe, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. In all, she is believed to have taken $225 in cash.

On Sept. 11, she was caught on surveillance taking a bottle of cologne, two candles and two bags of gourmet food. She placed the items in a Beall’s Outlet plastic bag, attached a miscellaneous receipt to the bag and put the bag in her locker, taking it with her at the end of the day, the arrest report indicated.

At the same time, she had been making a plea for financial assistance. She had launched a Go Fund Me page seeking financial support as her husband was facing open heart surgery.

“We also just found out that the Marion County, is going to auction of or property and home on October 12th. I work full time, and Chris has been disabled since 2009. I struggle just like everybody else out there, but I really need some help,” she wrote on the Go Fund Me page.
