Sumter County Commissioner Don Burgess honored for leadership

Sumter County District Commissioner Don Burgess was presented Wednesday with the 2015 Lake-Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPO) Horizon Award for Leadership.

The award was presented for his demonstration of furthering the goals of the MPO and “Promoting Regional  Transportation Partnerships.”

Burgess has served on MPO since July 22, 2009 and is a past chairman of the MPO Governing Board.  He is currently the chairman of the Sumter County Transportation Disadvantaged Coordinating Board.

He is a resident of The Villages.
