National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.
The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is hosting its first National Night Out from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 3 at Lake-Sumter State College in Sumterville.
National Night Out is a free event. There will be more than 60 businesses and nonprofit organizations participating. There will also be 80 to 100 door prizes given out, the most exciting being a shiny, new Husqvarna riding lawn mower. Everyone attending the event will receive two door prize tickets – one for the mower and one for the ongoing drawings throughout the night. The evening will also include live entertainment provided by John Johnson and Nolan Hamm.
