Sumter County Sheriff’s Office IDs body discovered in southern part of the county

Sumter County Sheriff’s Office investigators have identified the man whose body was found Friday in the Richloam Management Area in southern Sumter County.

The deceased  has been identified as Robert K. Banks, 31, of Lakeland.  Sheriff’s Investigators with the assistance of the Atlanta, Ga. Police Department and the Tuscaloosa, Ala. County Sheriff’s Office were able to notify Banks’ next of kin regarding his death.

On Saturday morning, the Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy and results of the autopsy are pending.  Investigators continue to investigate the death as a homicide.
