Villages Elementary of Lady Lake shelter full; Sumter Fairgrounds pet-friendly shelter full

The Villages Elementary at Lady Lake was a busy spot Saturday evening. The National Guard was on hand at the school as residents checked into the pet-friendly shelter.

The shelter at the school on Rolling Acres Road met capacity at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Villages Elementary is at capacity, and is not able to accommodate any further population.

SUMTER COUNTY SHELTERS

As of 4 p.m. Saturday, the Sumter County Fairgrounds (Pet Friendly) emergency shelter is now full.
South Sumter High School (Pet Friendly) shelter was expected to reach capacity at 5:30 p.m.
Webster Elementary located at 349 S Market Blvd. SR 471 will be able to accommodate pets as of 5:30 pm today and become the remaining (Pet Friendly) shelter.

The following shelters still have space available:

NOTE:

General Public: The City of Center Hill Recreation Center 74 S Virginia Ave., Center Hill, FL 33514 will also open at 5:30 pm today.
– If you need transportation, please call the Citizens Information Center at 352-569-3190.
– If you evacuate to a shelter you need to bring:
• Bedding, snacks, extra clothes, toiletries, any necessary medications
• For pets, bring food, a crate, medications, leash, and any necessary material
• If you need emergency response, please dial 9-1-1
