Sumter Landing board to review budget with huge increase in cost of Recreation News

The Sumter Landing Community Development District Board will review a budget this week which includes a huge increase in the price of the Recreation News.

In 2017-18, the SLCDD’s share of the cost of the weekly printing and distribution of Recreation News will climb from $338,540 to $616,860.

Supervisors will consider the budget  when they meet at 10 a.m. Thursday at the District Office in Lake Sumter Landing.

The Amenity Authority Committee learned earlier this month that its share of the cost for the Recreation News is going up 73 percent.

The AAC, which oversees amenities for residents living north of County Road 466, budgeted $210,960 in 2016-17 for Recreation News, which is inserted weekly in The Villages Daily Sun and made available to residents at no cost at recreation centers throughout The Villages.

The AAC’s share for the costs of producing the Recreation News will climb to $364,640 for 2017-18, an increase of $153,680.
