Suspect arrested at Aldi in Leesburg could be Lady Lake bank robber

A man taken into custody Sunday by Leesburg police at Aldi, might be the bank robber sought after a Saturday morning heist at Wells Fargo in Lady Lake.

Brandon J. Hooks, 33, was spotted by a citizen at the grocery store who had seen a photograph of the robber distributed by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Villages-News.com shared the surveillance image with its readers.

Hooks was arrested on a charge of robbery and booked at the Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $10,000.

“Thanks to the careful eye of a citizen, this suspect has been successfully apprehended. Another outstanding example of how well ‘see something say something’ really works,” the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
