Suspicious package prompts evacuations in the Village of Glenbrook 

Homes were being evacuated and traffic was blocked on Oak Forest Drive in the Village of Glenbrook after a suspicious package was discovered at a residence.

A couple who resides on Oak Forest Drive returned home at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday and found the package on their porch, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Homeowners were evacuated and told they would could be out of their homes for several hours.

The home where the package was found is located on Oak Forest Drive near its intersection with Melville Loop.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad was called in to investigate.

The package was determined to be paperwork and the all clear order was given at about 4:30 p.m.
