A Tavares High School teacher and track coach was arrested Wednesday after allegedly having inappropriate communication with some of his students and possible inappropriate touching.
Lake County Sheriff’s Office detectives have arrested 30-year-old Brian Andrew Wall and charged him with simple battery.
Detectives determined that on Nov. 15, 2016, Wall was involved in inappropriate touching with a 16-year-old female victim, after the victim requested to speak with detectives who were actively investigating Wall’s inappropriate communication via text messaging with female students, according to a Lake County Sheriff’s arrest affidavit. On that day, the victim stated that she was Wall’s student who stayed after school to make up work for his class, the report stated. The victim stated that Wall asked her what she could do in order to have her make up work graded and counted towards her final grades.
After suggesting cleaning tasks, the victim said that Wall stated that if she gave him one hug per worksheet, he would make it count towards her grade. The report noted that the two hugged numerous times. The victim stated that Wall had touched her shoulders and the outside of her thigh as he helped her with her work. When the victim turned in her work at Wall’s desk, Wall asked her to sit on his lap, in which she did for a brief moment till she stood back up in front of his desk. The victim stated that Wall lifted her shirt to touch her stomach and see the bottom of her bra.
The victim stated that she felt obliged to comply with many of Wall’s requests, such as showing him her underwear and meeting him in the copy room, in fear of failing his class. When the two were in the copy room, Wall told her if she felt uncomfortable, she should leave, according to the report. The victim and Wall hugged before she left the room and the school.
Wall was booked at the Lake County Jail on $5,000 bond. He is due for arraignment Feb. 1.
