The Swamp is winning

Rich Sobieray

Washington D.C. is not only a swamp, it is an alternate universe, a permanent political class dependent upon sheep that are so blinded by their own partisan bickering that Washington can play by its own rules…without penalty. Consider the following recent announcements:

Trump and Rubio support an expansion of the child tax credit

This pretends to be a gesture to the middle class tax breaks that are part of a so-called tax reform package. But who is really being courted here?

  • 2.0 million Illegal immigrants/undocumented workers, whatever works for you, file income tax returns every year. That number is probably conservative since President Obama loosened the rules for securing an ITIN number.
  • In 2013, WTHR in Indianapolis did an exposé which went national and is documented on You-Tube involving illegals/undocumented who all live at the same address (as many as 20) and claim as many as 10-30 children each under the Child Tax Credit provision of the tax code. They find a friendly accountant and get as much as $10,000 to $30,000 tax refund. In most cases the children reported are nephews, nieces and cousin still living in Mexico.
  • This costs the taxpayer more than $4.2 billion every year.
  • Deputy Counsel for the IRS received $286,000 bonus for his “…correct and impartial interpretation of the revenue laws.”
  • And IRS workers got a one percet bonus as well for their diligence…not!

When I confronted U.S. Rep. Rich Nugent, his office said he was aware of this and was sponsoring legislation to prevent this “loophole.” WTH? These people are clearly breaking the law and his response was we need another law. If an American citizen did this, they would be arrested.

These people are not in the shadows. The IRS knows where they mail the checks to. How is breaking the law a “loophole”? I guess when LA Raza sends your reelection campaign a check it becomes a loophole.

Jeff Sessions announces settlement with non-profits who were targeted by the IRS

The Trump administration just announced that they have no plans to seek criminal charges against Lois Lerner for her part in the harassment of non-profits filing for tax exempt status during the 2010-2012 election cycle. Ms. Lerner took the fifth during her hearings and retires with full government benefits for her misdeeds…as well as a $129,000 bonus. It pays to be corrupt in government!

Apparently, nothing could be done to Commissioner John Koskinen who misled Congress in his testimony. He remains Commissioner with full pay and will be retired this year with full benefits.

So, who pays the settlement??? You and me. WTH?

Not to mention the costs for nearly two years of Congressional hearings that produced nothing…once again.

House of Representatives H.R. 732

Former Attorney General Holder fined the banks and investment firms $37 billion for their corrupt practices. This has been well documented in the Wall Street Journal and Investor’s Business Daily.

When I contacted Rich Nugent’s office about where this money went, they were certain it went into the Treasury. Which would make sense, right?

Wrong! This $37 billion became Holder’s personal “slush fund” which he used to redirect the fines to the organizations of his choice…mostly Democratic PACS…without any accounting of where all the money went. The irony is that Congress was arguing over a $4 billion budget shortfall and couldn’t figure out what to do. Surprising?

Here is how it works: Banks and Investment firms defraud their customers. A fine is assessed to be paid to the Justice Department, not to the investors who were defrauded. Eric Holder cut a deal with the banks/investment houses that they can pay their fine to a charity of the choice of Eric Holder…usually a Democratic PAC like Acorn, BLM, etc…So the initial investor who was defrauded gets nothing. The PACS get rich and the Investment banks clear their name from any wrongdoing…and who knows how much Holder and Obama made.

So once again, Congress decides not to pursue Holder and any accounting of where the funds went, I was told, because he is now a citizen. Rather, they choose to pass some legislation that, supposedly will prevent this in the future. It probably has its own “loophole.”

Conclusion

  • Illegals have no reason to hide in the “shadows” when Congress wants to expand their ability to extort more from the taxpayers. Sign up and get your ITIN.
  • Government workers are not accountable for any of their misdeeds. Lois Lerner is laughing all the way to the bank.
  • Government appointees, once they become citizens, according to Congress cannot be held accountable for the misuse of government funds.
  • $4.2 billion and $37 billion are simply too small potatoes for the swamp rats to care.
  • No wonder we attack each other. We have no recourse with the real culprits who live in their protected cocoon…without accountability…in the face of facts that demonstrate their level of corruption.
  • The Swamp is, indeed, winning!
  • Where’s the football players when we need them? One said he was bi-partial. He can go left. He can go right. He said he was amphibious. (My apologies for the football joke.)
