Villager transported to TVRH after chain-reaction collision on Rolling Acres Road

A Villager was transported by ambulance to The Villages Regional Hospital after a chain-reaction collision Monday afternoon on Rolling Acres Road.

The accident occurred at 1:10 p.m. and involved three southbound vehicles near the entrance to the Rolling Acres Sports Complex.

Mary Wilcox, 68, of the Village of Charlotte, had been driving a 2015 Ford Escape which was rear-ended by a 2008 Ford Expedition driven by Rhonda McNeal, 31, of Bushnell, according to an accident report from the Lady Lake Police Department. The force of the collision pushed the vehicle driven by Wilcox into the rear end of a  2003 Ion driven by Rita Owenby, 47, of Eustis.

McNeal was cited for failure to use due care.

The vehicles driven by Wilcox and McNeal had to be towed from the scene, according to the Lady Lake Police Department.
