Trailer breaks free from truck, strikes golf cart and fire hydrant

A trailer broke free from a truck and crashed Thursday at the Sanibel Pool.
A trailer broke free from a truck and crashed Thursday at the Sanibel Pool.

A trailer broke free from a truck Thursday and struck a golf cart and fire hydrant at the Sanibel Pool.

The driver of the truck which had been towing the trailer had been traveling westbound at 9:30 a.m. on Pinellas Place when the trailer connection malfunctioned and it broke free, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

There was no one in the golf cart at the time.
