Three armed robbers were caught after crashing their car Sunday in Marion County.
Marion County sheriffs responded to the Meador’s Corner Qwik King store at 18236 SE 95th Street Road in Ocklawaha after a clerk called 911 to report that he had just been robbed at gunpoint, according to a MCSO press release. The clerk said that two masked men walked into the store and pointed a handgun at him, demanding cash and cigarettes, then left the store and fled in a black sedan that was driven by a female driver, the report noted.
A customer in the parking lot overheard the clerk saying he had just been robbed by the people leaving in the black sedan, prompting the customer to follow the vehicle in an attempt to get the license plate number. The female driver of the black sedan attempted to ram the customer’s vehicle, which caused her to lose control and crash into a wooded area. The customer and bystanders were able to keep the suspects inside their vehicle until deputies arrived, according to the report.
The driver of the black sedan was identified as 36-year-old Jessica Friedeborn, and the two male passengers were identified as 21-year-old Jacey Gutbrod and 19-year-old Sean Gall. Friedeborn and Gutbrod were both treated for minor injuries at a local hospital and were later released.
All three were arrested and charged with one count each of robbery with a firearm. They are being held in Marion County Jail with bond posted at $50,000 each.
