Trucker escapes serious injury when semi jackknifes on Sumter County roadway

A trucker escaped serious injury when his semi jackknifed Thursday evening on State Road 91 in Sumter County.

Carlos A. Vasquez, 42, of Clermont had been southbound when the right front tire of his semi blew out, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. He lost control of the semi and it jackknifed, landing on its passenger side. The crash site blocked all southbound traffic.

Vasquez suffered minor injuries and was transported to South Lake Hospital.
