Two incumbents in Community Development District 1 will face challengers.
Craig Estep of the Village of Hacienda North prefiled Friday to run against Seat 2 incumbent Ellen Cora. Estep lived in Iowa and Texas before moving to The Villages two years ago. He flew EMS helicopters.
“I want to make sure The Villages’ future is as bright as its past,” Estep said of his candidacy.
Seat 4 incumbent Clyde Long will face Peter Pittsburgh who prefiled on Wednesday.
Pittsburgh, of the Village of Rio Ponderosa, championed improvements to the La Hacienda Sports Pool.
He is originally from Brooklyn and moved to The Villages four years ago from Orlando.
Both Cora and Long prefiled paperwork earlier this year to seek re-election.
