Two men confronted a pair of thieves who had stolen a gun safe from their home at Vermillion Estates in Summerfield.
The men had returned home late Sunday and spotted two white males near their home, according to an incident report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
When the men asked the two strangers what they were doing, the pair fled toward a retention pond. When the two men approached the pond they spotted a Winchester gun safe which had been taken from a room at the house.
It was determined that entry to the home had been gained through a rear bedroom window.
