Two Sumter County residents suffer serious injuries in crash on U.S. 301

Two Sumter County residents suffered serious injuries in a crash at 4 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 301.

Julie Ann Cossin, 54, of Bushnell, had been stopped on U.S. 301 in the southbound lane to make a left turn onto Boitnott Lane in Bushnell. Her 1989 Oldsmobile Ciera was struck in the rear by a 1999 ford F150 driven by Jamie B. Hernandez, 37, of Webster, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The impact  propelled Cossin’s vehicle to the west shoulder of the road and where the sedan collided with a power pole.

Post-impact, the F150 driven by Hernandez overturned several times and came to rest on the west shoulder of U.S. 301.

Both drivers were transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center.
