Two truckers were seriously injured when their semis collided Thursday night at an exit/entrance ramp at Interstate 75 in Marion County.
Trucker Malcolm Samuel Driskill, 68, of Locust Grove, Ga., was eastbound on State Road 326 in the left turn lane, approaching a green traffic signal ahead at the intersection of the I-75 northbound exit/entrance ramp, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
A second trucker, 42-year-old Corey Mitchell of Elloree, S.C. was westbound on State Road 326 in the outside (right) travel lane, approaching a green traffic signal ahead at the intersection of the I-75 northbound exit/entrance ramp. Driskill proceeded to make a left turn onto the I-75 northbound entrance ramp in front of Mitchell’s truck. His truck struck the right side of the cab portion of Driskill’s truck. Mitchell’s truck ran off the roadway, traveled up an embankment wall before overturning onto its left side.
Both men suffered serious injuries and were transported by ambulance to Ocala Regional Medical Center.Â
