Two Wildwood men were arrested after allegedly attempting to steal shoes and clothing at a store in The Villages.

Anthony Lee Sesler, 18, and Alajuwon Lamar Wilson, 21, on Thursday morning entered the Bealls store at Buffalo Ridge Plaza, selected merchandise and took it into a fitting room.

They then tried to leave the store with a pair of Nike sandals and royal blue RB3 basketball shorts, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The pair had used a knife to remove anti-shoplifting materials from the merchandise. They also left behind other merchandise they had damaged.

Both were arrested on charges of petit theft and possession of anti-shoplifting control devices.

Both men were booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $3,000 bond each.

Sesler had been arrested earlier this year after damaging a sheriff’s deputy’s patrol car.
