Firefighters were on the scene of the crash Saturday afternoon.

A vehicle crashed into an apartment Saturday afternoon in Marion County.

Leila Johnson, 22, of Jay was driving a 2014 Nissan Sentra northwest on SE 40th Street Rd. when she failed to maintain a single lane, causing the vehicle to travel west into a ditch and become airborne, according to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report. Johnson’s front left tire and undercarriage struck the hood of a parked and unoccupied Toyota Corolla that was facing east in the parking lot at SE 17th Ct. as Johnson’s vehicle continued to travel westward, causing her vehicle to collide with the exterior wall and window areas of a house located at 3900 SE 17th Street Road Apt. A, the report stated. The apartment’s occupant, Cristina Fadraga, was behind the exterior wall and was unharmed. Johnson’s vehicle came to final rest halfway within the apartment facing west.

A dog was also trapped by the crash and retrieved by Marion County Fire Rescue.

Johnson was charged with failure to maintain a single lane.
