A 69-year-old Village of Bonnybrook woman appears poised to avoid prosecution following her arrest at Kohl’s in December on a charge of retail theft.
Patricia Nighan of 420 Layton Terrace entered Kohl’s on Dec. 10 and attempted to leave the store without paying for two bras and an umbrella, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. She was detained by the store’s loss prevention officer who called police. When an officer arrived, Nighan admitted to concealing the items in her purse. The items had a total value of $131.99.
On Jan. 11 in Lake County Court, she agreed to enter into a pre-trial intervention agreement which requires her to perform 25 hours of community service, take part in a shoplifter’s class and stay out of Kohl’s.
If she completes the terms of the agreement, the case will be dismissed.
She was represented by attorney J. Scott Herman.
