After a long weather delay, the two matches of Tierra vs Palmer and Lopez vs Mallory were sent back out onto the golf course to finish their matches.  As the sun set, the last players for both teams were on the final hole in virtual darkness.

Team Lopez’s final player came in to the scoreboard and reported that he won his match.  Using a cell phone flashlight, Mark Verkey, PGA professional from Palmer, put the score up and declared Lopez the winner over Mallory by a score of 8 1/2 to 7 1/2.   A cheer went up from the Lopez team.
The Palmer/Tierra team final match approaches the 9th hole on Stirrup Cup in darkness.  They ask if they can stop.  The committee determines they should finish the final hole.  As golf cart lights light the fairway and green, the other players from both Tierra and Palmer teams stand on the hill in darkness while the two players finish the hole.   Again, the score is posted and a tie is announced. In complete darkness at this point, The Captains of Palmer and Tierra are notified by Ken Roshaven, PGA professional from Glenview, that each team must have 3 players at Glenview at 7:15 am for a sudden death playoff.
Friday’s matches to determine the finals groupings are on hold.
Here are the matches that were completed Thursday:
Cane Garden defeated Hacienda 9 1/2 – 6 1/2
Evans Prairie defeated Havana 9-7
Lopez defeated Mallory 8 1/2 – 7 1/2
Palmer and Lopez end in TIE
Carne Garden plays Evans Prairie in the Friday semi-finals
Lopez plays the winner of Palmer-Tierra to be determined 7:15 Friday morning.
