Village of El Cortez woman reports hacking of her PayPal account

A 59-year-old woman who lives in the Village of El Cortez reported to police that her PayPal account had been hacked last month.

The woman discovered on March 21 that someone had hacked into her PayPal account and attempted to make a payment in the amount of $4,000 to another account, according to an incident report from the Lady lake Police Department. The hacker also attempted to change information on her account.

The transfer was not processed.

PayPal encouraged the woman to file a followup police report.
