Village of Glenbrook resident arrested after night of drinking at City Fire

Alby Peter Zellner

A Village of Glenbrook resident was arrested after a night of drinking at City Fire.

Alby Peter Zellner, 77, who lives on Glenwood Place, had been at the wheel of a white Pontiac which was swerving at 8:14 p.m. Monday northbound on Buena Vista Boulevard, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.  His vehicle was pulled over at Buena Vista Boulevard and Palmer Way.

Zellner’s speech was slurred and his eyes were bloodshot. He told the deputy he had been at City Fire where he’d consumed two beers. He later revised his statement and said he had three Yuengling beers.

He struggled through field sobriety exercises, staggering and nearly losing his balance. When asked to perform a one-legged stand, he complained that he has “bad knees,” according to the report.

During a ride to the Sumter County Detention Center, he fell asleep. He provided two breath samples, both registering .027 blood alcohol content.

He was booked at the jail on $1,000 bond.
