A Village of Pennecamp woman was arrested after crashing her car into a palm tree Monday night in the Amberjack Villas.
Melissa Rene Doucette, 44, who lives on Ashwood Run, had apparently gotten mixed up and headed down Imperial Lane, according to an arrest report from the Florida Highway Patrol. When she realized her mistake, she put her black Hyundai Elantra into reverse and hit a rock and palm tree in the yard of a home on Imperial Lane. When the trooper arrived, Doucette’s vehicle was in a garden bed at the home, according to the FHP report.
When the trooper asked Doucette to step out of her vehicle, she had to lean against it to keep from falling down, the report noted. She failed field sobriety exercises and later provided breath samples that registered .143 and .145 blood alcohol content.
She was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. She was released after posting $1,000 bond.
