A 68-year-old Village of Polo Ridge man will lose his driver’s license for six months as the result of a drunk driving arrest in January.

Ronald Wayne Bonnici had been driving at 11:12 p.m. Jan. 28 on Old Mill Run near Old Camp Road when he ran a stop sign, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy initiated a traffic stop in the parking lot of Palmer Legends Country Club on Buena Vista Boulevard. Bonnici told the deputy he had consumed “a couple of beers” at City Fire. Bonnici failed field sobriety exercises. He provided breath samples that registered .110 and .118 blood alcohol content.

Bonnici entered a plea of no contest this past week in Sumter County Court. He was placed on probation for one year and ordered to perform 50 hours of community service.
