Village of Silver Lake man arrested after spotted driving golf cart without headlights

A Village of Silver Lake man was arrested after spotted driving a golf cart without headlights on the Historic Side of The Villages.

Daniel Vincent Whitmore, 55, had been driving the golf cart late Friday night when a Lady Lake police officer noticed it pulling into the parking lot of the Circle K service station at 3 La Grande Blvd.

The officer discovered that Whitmore’s driver’s license had been suspended in California. He had a Florida ID card.

A search of the golf cart turned up methamphetamine.

Whitmore was arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance and booked at the Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $2,000.
