Village of Winifred Christmas display a tradition Villagers brought from Pennsylvania

A Christmas display that seems to get bigger each year, is a tradition a Villages couple brought with them from Pennsylvania.

Dexton and Judy Reed live at the corner of Sherwood Street and Lancaster Lane and this year’s holiday decorations are once-again drawing a crowd.

The couple, who bought in 2004, but really didn’t settle in Florida’s Friendliest Hometown until 2010, enjoy having people drive over to look at the display.

“It keeps growing,” Dexton said with a laugh.

He stores everything in the attic. It took about three to four days to assemble.

But there are rewards, in smiles, compliments and even cookies.

The neighbors love it.

“I don’t have to worry about competing with him,” said neighbor Gary Elmen. “It wouldn’t even be a competition.”
