A 73-year-old Villager arrested last month after he allegedly put a gun to his wife’s head after she accused him of cheating, has filed for divorce.
John F. Conlin of 984 Aloha Way on the Historic Side of The Villages filed for divorce Tuesday in Lake County Court.
Conlin came home Oct. 19 from a bar and his wife began questioning him about an alleged affair, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. The couple had reportedly been arguing for weeks over Conlin’s alleged affair, the arrest report indicated.
During the argument, Conlin told his wife he was going to shoot her in the head and proceeded to pull a 9mm handgun from underneath the bed. He slammed his wife against a wall, held her by the throat and put the gun to her head, the arrest report said. He was booked on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and domestic battery at the Lake County Jail.
He has entered a plea of not guilty to the charges.
He is currently free on $17,000 bond.
His wife on Oct. 26 filed for order of protection from domestic violence.
