Villager arrested on disorderly intoxication charge at Lake Sumter Landing
Kevin Conklin

A 51-year-old Villager was arrested on charges of disorderly intoxication and resisting an officer at Lake Sumter Landing in The Villages.

A Sumter County sheriff’s deputy was called to the square at about 8:15 p.m. Thursday where Kevin Charles Conklin was said to be causing a disturbance.

When the deputy found Conklin, he was “highly intoxicated,” according to the arrest report.

Conklin then laid face down on the ground and began using profanity, the report indicated. He then tried to stumble away and when the deputy ordered him to stop, Conklin kept going. The deputy then used a taser gun on Conklin.

He was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center where bond was set at $1,500.
