A 35-year-old Villager was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence after running a stop sign in a golf cart early Wednesday morning.
Stefanie Erin Krieg of the Village of St. Charles was driving a blue 2008 Yamaha golf cart at 12:08 a.m. Wednesday when she failed to stop at a stop sign near the intersection of Bailey Trail and Buena Vista Boulevard, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
The deputy asked her if she had been drinking to which she replied, “Only a little,” according to the arrest report. She failed a field sobriety test.
She was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center where she refused to provide a breath or urine sample, the arrest report indicated.
In addition to DUI, she was ticketed on a charge of failure to yield at a traffic control device. Bond was set at $2,000.
