Villager arrested on DUI after passenger thrown from golf cart

A Villager has been arrested on a charge of driving under the influence following an accident in which her passenger suffered injuries after being thrown from a golf cart.

Mary Catherine Mooney, 50, was charged with driving under the influence by Florida Highway Patrol following the accident Friday night at Talley Ridge Drive and Addison Avenue in the Village of Glenbrook.

Mooney told the investigating officer that she was attempting to make a left turn onto Addison Avenue when her passenger Lynn Ann Ainscow was thrown from the golf cart, according to the arrest report. Ainscow was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center with head injuries, according to the arrest report.

An open beer was observed in the driver’s side cup holder and there were additional beers on ice, the FHP report noted.

Mooney was taken to the Sumter County Detention Center, according to the FHP report.
