Villager arrested on felony charge on Black Friday at Wal-Mart

A 63-year-old Villager was arrested on Black Friday on a felony charge of petit theft at Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge.

Howard Barry Bernstein was arrested after he allegedly took $37.89 in items without paying for them, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

A criminal history check revealed that Bernstein had been arrested on similar charges in 2003 in Sarasota and in 1987 in New Jersey.

Following his arrest Friday, Bernstein was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center where bond was set at $2,000.
