Villager arrested after fight over money in Village of Poinciana

Cheryl Marie Henderson

A 66-year-old Villager was arrested after a fight with a man over money in the Village of Poinciana.

Cheryl Marie Henderson, who lives in the Tanglewood Villas in the Village of Sabal Chase, was taken into custody shortly after 6 p.m. Monday on a charge of battery at a home on Bamberg Avenue.

Sumter County sheriff’s deputies were called to the home after a man called 911. He told deputies he and Henderson had been arguing over money and he went to close a door “so the neighbors would not hear the verbal argument,” according to the arrest report. She grabbed him by the arm and pulled him away from the door. He added that she was “agitated and yelling at him.”

Henderson’s version of events was “inconsistent,” the deputy noted in the report.

She was taken into custody on a charge of battery and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. She was released after posting $2,000 bond.
