A Villager is facing charges of driving under the influence and resisting arrest after he was arrested after allegedly driving his golf cart on El Camino Real in a reckless manner.

James Frederick Rutkowski had been driving the golf cart at 1:46 a.m. when he was stopped by a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy.

The deputy asked Rutkowski if he had been drinking, to which Rutkowski replied he may have had three beers.

Rutkowski failed field sobriety exercises, according to the arrest report.

He allegedly resisted deputies’ attempts to handcuff him.

Rutkowski later provided breath samples registering .124 and .119 blood alcohol level.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $2,000. His golf cart was towed from the scene of the arrest by Revis Towing.
