Villager emerges from Publix to find golf cart, golf clubs gone from parking lot

A 75-year-old Villager emerged from a Publix store in The Villages on Thursday night to discover his golf cart and golf clubs had vanished from the parking lot.

The Village of Springdale man went to the Publix at Mulberry Grove at about 7 p.m. in his maroon 2008 EZ-GO golf cart. When he came out, the golf cart and his 15-piece set of Cleveland golf clubs were gone, according to an incident report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

A woman who witnessed the theft, told a deputy that she had seen a man walking up to several golf carts in the parking lot. She said she saw the man get into the Villager’s EZ-GO golf cart and drive away.
