A 74-year-old Villager has entered a plea in connection with his arrest earlier this month after paying an unwanted visit to the home of a Village of Amelia in which he was armed with a .38-caliber Taurus revolver.

George Nelson Lowe of the Village of Liberty Park on Wednesday in Sumter County Court entered a plea of not guilty to charges of battery, burglary and kidnap/false imprisonment. He was arrested Nov. 14 by Sumter County sheriff’s deputies after an early-morning visit to the woman’s home which he entered by accessing the keypad for her garage. Lowe told the woman he was going to take her to his residence and they were going to “die together” in his vehicle in his garage. You can read more about the original arrest HERE.

In addition to entering his not guilty plea, Lowe has retained former prosecutor Julian Harrison of Bushnell to represent him in the case.

Lowe remains free on $56,000 bond.
