Villager Richard Schantini decided he wanted to skydive for his 75th birthday.

He has had both knees replaced and this past year had a shoulder replaced.

“Our granddaughter wanted to jump with him. She is an engineer for the company in Gainesville, that makes the replacement shoulder he has,” said his wife, Jan.

Schantini, who lives in the Village of Antrim Dells but previously lived in the Village of Sunset Pointe, reportedly loved the dive and wants to do it again.

He flew with the U.S. Navy for 20 years, but never had cause to use his parachute.

Several family members as well as some Villages friends surprised him by going to watch the jump.
