Villager in golf cart ticketed after collision with SUV in busy intersection in The Villages

A Villager was ticketed after a collision between her golf cart and an 87-year-old Villager’s SUV on Tuesday morning in a busy intersection in The Villages.

Rebecca Lee Bennett, 70, of the Village of Del Mar, had been at the wheel of a 2010 Yamaha golf cart at 11 a.m. in the intersection of Del Mar Drive and Avenida Central, according to an accident report from the Lady Lake Police Department. Bennett proceeded through a stop sign and struck a 2004 Volvo sport utility vehicle driven by Marguerite R. Hartman, also of the Village of Del Mar.

Bennett was ticketed on a charge of violation of right of way.
